- 11 am
- Worship led by Mrs Jenny Easson
We give the assurance of our thoughts and prayers to all who are unwell, awaiting or undergoing treatment, or anxious or grieving for the loss of loved ones.
Open Circuit Meeting
There will be a Circuit Meeting on WEDNESDAY 28th NOVEMBER
at 7.00 pm in Dundee Methodist Church.
Since one of the principal items of business will be the
continuing consideration of the 'Single Circuit' proposal for the
Methodist Church in Scotland, this will be an 'open' meeting
for all those members in the circuit who might wish to attend.
The Rev Lily Twist, our Chair of District, will be at the
meeting.
The next Circuit Meeting thereafter in early 2013 will be asked to take and record a vote on the proposal.
David Cowling, Senior Circuit Steward
Mission in Britain Fund
Methodist churches throughout Britain are invited to mark the
start of Advent next Sunday by celebrating and supporting the work
of the Mission in Britain Fund. There will be a retiring offering,
with envelopes available for those who wish to Gift Aid their
donations.
Circuit Preaching Plan
An updated Plan of those appointed to lead worship in the Circuit,
taking account of the Rev Mary Patterson's continuing absence, will be
made available to us as soon as possible. Copies will then be
distributed to those who need this information, or placed on
noticeboards in Marketgait. If you wish for a personal copy
or any details of planned Preachers, please contact Jenny or
David Easson.
Flower Rota
“Elaine writes:
I would like to thank everyone on the Flower Rota for this past year
and thanks for the support given to the Rota. I do have two vacancies
(3rd February and 10th November) on the Flower Rota for 2013.
If you feel you could help, please contact me. I hope to have the
2013 Flower Rota out by December.”
Our gratitude is expressed to Elaine and similarly to Tom
for their continuing work for the “ministry of flowers”;
thanks also to those who facilitate the flower distribution after
worship.
Andy Jackson - and His Moustache
“November is MOVEMBER month, when men of a certain age decide
to forego modern fashion conventions and grow a moustache, for one
month only, in support of men's health (specifically prostate &
testicular cancer).
If anyone would like to sponsor me this month, I have a page
at http://mobro.co/azjackson
where you can make a donation. I also accept donations in cash if preferred.
I am also open to suggestions on the type of moustache to go for.
Examples of a variety of styles can be found at
http://kikeinosocks.files.wordpress.com/2009/11/moustaches-types.jpg?w=510.
Please bear in mind that I need to preserve a certain degree of dignity, so I'm unlikely to opt
for a Fu Manchu or the full RAF Handlebar.
Many thanks to you for reading - I hope you will be moved to make a donation, however
large.”
Worship Group résumé
In addition to agreeing the dates published last week, the Group
- heard from Liz Kay of her participation in the recent Worship Leaders Training course;
- made arrangements to mark Advent;
- agreed that envelopes for Action for Children be available on and from Sunday December 16th for return on Sundays 23rd and 30th December;
- considered last year's absence of flowers during Lent and decided, for a further year, to continue this as a way of observing and exploring the symbolism and meaning of this season.
