Methodist Conference 2013 - London

The Conference will meet in Westminster Central Hall, for the ministerial session from Thursday, with the representative session from Saturday until the following Thursday. Proceedings can usually be accessed and followed online through the Conference website

The Agenda is also downloadable via the same site and is available in pdf and eBook formats.

In addition to the Rev Lily Twist, as Chair, the Scotland District will be represented by the Rev Martin Keenan, the Rev Andrew Letby, Deacon Roger Hensman, Mrs Jenny Lee and Mr Ritchie Walker, while the Shetland District will be represented by Mr Keith Hawkins, in addition to their Chair, the Rev Jeremy Dare.

“Unclaimed property” - can you help?

Lorna is aiming to create an identified and easily accessible space to keep material suitable for children during worship. She has come across several items in the cupboard opposite the upstairs office, about which she requests clarification.

Please contact her with advice on provenance, ownership, suitability of retaining or disposing appropriately of the following:

• wooden rocking cradle - in good condition - surplus to our crèche needs - dispose of via charity outlet?
• large cream coloured bathsheet - retain or dispose of?
• table tennis equipment + set of darts - ex-Youth Club possibly? - to be retained?
• other toys - to be given TLC before retention or disposal.

Action for Children

• Please note that there is a now vacancy for a link person with Action for Children (AfC). Those holding boxes or wishing to make donations in support of AfC may do so direct to the Church Treasurer.
• Nominations are invited for the Stephenson Awards, for 2013. Named in honour of the founder of the National Children's Home and Orphanage, these seek “to celebrate the commitment and expertise of those who make sure Action for Children can be there for the UK's most vulnerable children and families.” Nominations of any AfC supporters, volunteers, foster carers, or staff members should be made by Wednesday 31st July. Broughty Ferry Churches news

• Barnhill St Margaret's Church, Invermark Terrace, hold a Lunchtime Service on Wednesdays at 12 noon.
• St Luke's and Queen Street Church, Broughty Ferry serve an Afternoon Tea on Thursdays between 2pm and 3pm.
• Summer Teas and Coffees are served on Saturdays from 10am to 12 noon in the New Kirk St Aidan's Heritage Centre (former St Aidan's church building).

Meadowside St Paul's

An expression of thanks for our support of their Anniversary last Sunday has been received from Meadowside St Paul's congregation in the form of a wee floral arrangement delivered to Jenny and David Easson. The card reads “It was lovely having you and yours to celebrate with us on Sunday”.

Church Financial Administrator

St Peter's Church is advertising the above position, to provide administrative support of its Minister, congregation, and wider ministry. The post-holder will work a 12-hour week: 3 hours on a Monday morning in the Church Office, the remaining hours on a negotiated basis. Forthcoming District Services of Farewell and Welcome

Scottish Bible Society

Support through the Bible-a-Month Club is invited in July for work here in Scotland.

Our prayerful attention is drawn this week to

• on-going translation work on the Moroccan Old Testament in conditions of stability in Morocco, also good international take-up of the New Testament;
• work on the Tunisian Arabic Bible, also plans for support by the Egyptian Bible Society at the Tunis International Book Fair later this year;
• staff and work of the Bible Society of Egypt in the current political and economic situation;
• SBS exhibitions and coordination with colleagues from the Bible Society in England and Wales, at the Keswick Convention.
