Lent

Scottish Churches House, Dunblane

As part of its current promotion process, invitations are being sent to members of the Churches in Scotland to visit SCH to learn about its current and proposed work through its Programme and role as a Conference Centre.

A series of receptions is planned for evenings in March & April from 5.30 pm to 7 pm, including a buffet on arrival, tour of the House, and talk with the Wardens and Interim Management Group members. Anyone interested in attending or requesting further information is asked to see the letter & reply slip on the Vestibule table.

Church Council news

At the meeting on 22nd February, members

  • received the resignation of Moriamo as Secretary and appointed Matthew to succeed her;
  • appointed Louisa as Crèche Coordinator, Hilary as Baptismal Roll Secretary, and Lorna as a representative to the Circuit Meeting;
  • re-appointed the Pastoral Visitors, Church Treasurer, and auditors;
  • received & discussed reports from the Senior Church Steward, Treasurer, and on property, pastoral, service & mission, and worship matters;
  • accepted, with pleasure, the Pastoral Committee's recommendation that Hilda's Membership of the Methodist Church be re-instated at Dundee;
  • allocated the Communion Offering in June to Habitat for Humanity, in July to Starter Packs Dundee, and in November to BLESMA,Crieff;
  • noted that dates on the Plan for 'Growing From the Inside Out' as Sundays 25th March, 6th May, 27th May and one (to be confirmed) in June;
  • agreed that the General Church Meeting take place during worship on Sunday 10th June, and the next Council meeting be on Wednesday 27th June.

International Women's Day Events

  • as part of the worldwide consideration of women's experiences, this morning's worship at 11 am in Meadowside St Paul's Church of Scotland will focus on this and will be led by the Rev Maudeen McDougall;
  • celebration on Thursday from 2 pm to 8 pm in Brooksbank Centre (Pitairlie Rd), funded by the Women's Fund for Scotland; programme includes music, dance, speakers, buffet (see poster, phone 01382 432461).
