We give the assurance of our thoughts and prayers to all who are unwell, awaiting or undergoing treatment, or anxious or grieving for the loss of loved ones.

Easter Offering

The Easter Offering raised £132.00. This sum is forwarded through Network to the World Church Fund. Thanks are expressed for this support of work world-wide.

Solomon Islands Tsunami Appeal

The recent collections have amounted to £109.75 and this sum (plus any late donations) will be sent to Methodist Church House. Grateful thanks are expressed for this practical sign of support and solidarity.

“Prayer Times in MayTime”

On Thursday afternoon, there will be opportunity in Marketgait for shared prayer and meditation in the downstairs back room, between 2 pm and 3.30 pm. Each half-hour, starting at 2 pm, a short time of prayer will be led; between these times, there will be space for personal reflection, devotional reading, and expression of personal prayer concerns. Resources available will relate to Ascensiontide and to current topics of interest and concern. This is open to all - please feel free to come, for however short or long a time.

A further 'Prayer Time in MayTime' will take place on the evening of Thursday 24th May (Wesley Day). Anyone interested in preparing or taking part on that occasion is asked to contact Jenny as soon as possible.

Invitation to a Day Out!

Our Circuit friends in Arbroath & Blairgowrie together extend an invitation to Dundee, Montrose & Perth Methodists to gather at Riverside Church, Blairgowrie, on Saturday 23rd June from 11.30 am. Plans include a barbecue lunch, then “fun and games” before tea in the afternoon. Please note the date now & let a Church Steward or Jenny know if you wish to go - by 10th June if possible, please. It is hoped to co-ordinate travel plans and provide transport for those who might find it helpful.

Scottish Bible Society

Our support through the Bible-a-Month Club is invited in May for work in Bangladesh. See library area noticeboard.

Our prayerful attention is drawn this week to :

  • work of BibleWorld in Suriname, distribution of Scriptures to those receiving relief in flood- destroyed villages;
  • Strategic Plan Implementation by staff in Ecuador;
  • work of 40 Bible Centres in Peru, impact of theatrical production of Mark's Gospel, on-going 'Scripture breakfast' ministry to poor children in shanty towns.

The Sponsor Form is now here (on Vestibule table) for Sue Marshall's 'CycleIndia' between 2nd and 11th November 2008 in support of ENABLE. Gift Aid is available through ticking the appropriate box on the sponsor form. Online donations may be made at www.justgiving.com/sueinindia.

ENABLE is the organisation to which the Link Club belongs. It provides a range of services to people with learning disabilities and their families, eg community housing, respite care, legal services, day centres and clubs, as well as advice and representation to government bodies.

Friday 25th May, 4.30 pm the Senate Room, New College, Mound Place, Edinburgh (map) Book Launch Invitation. An open invitation is given to the 'public welcome in the northern hemisphere' of “The Witness of the Student Christian Movement: Church ahead of the Church” by Robin Boyd. Robin will sign sale copies of the book and speak. Other speakers are Andrew Morton (New College) and Eilidh Whiteford (World SCM), with Elizabeth Templeton (freelance theologian) as Chair. Light refreshments will be served. See poster on noticeboard. (Jenny Easson, who knows Robin and his wife Anne, through Scottish Friends of Ecumenism, hopes to obtain a copy of the book & will be pleased to lend it, eventually).

Sunday, 10th June Dundee Methodist Church General Church Meeting, open to all. Formal business will include elections of Church Stewards and of representatives to the Church Council.
