05 December 2004
We give the assurance of our thoughts and prayers to all who are unwell, awaiting or undergoing treatment, or anxious or grieving for the loss of loved ones.
Advent Worship
For next Sunday, we are invited to continue reflecting in advance on news items
& headlines which have an impact on us & to bring (small) newspaper cuttings to be
placed by the Crib. Next week’s symbols will be about ‘captivity and imprisonment,
freedom and release’.
If anyone wishes a large-print copy of the wording and responses to be used during Advent, please
contact Jenny or David, or a Church Steward.
Flower Rota
“As Flower Co-ordinator I would like to thank all the people on
the Flower rota for this past year and the Flower rotas for 2005 will
be available from early December.” Elaine.

“Annapurna Base Camp”
“Hot on the heels of Michael Palin, Alan Suttie (together with son Philip) is planning to trek to Annapurna Base Camp, trekking over 10 days and at a height of up to 12,500 feet. Alan and Philip depart for Nepal on 22nd January 2005. Alan and Philip hope to raise £5,000 to support new projects targeting social isolation amongst blind and partially-sighted people in Fife, with the ultimate goal of making life with sight loss easier.
For more information please speak to Alan and sponsor forms are available on the Vestibule table.”
NCH
During December, Dundee Methodists have traditionally given support to NCH, the children’s charity of the Methodist Church.
The Communion Offering next Sunday and the offering on Christmas Day will go to NCH & envelopes will also be available for donations.
NCH’s Christmas theme this year is
Growing up is tough.
This is an initiative to promote the issues faced by young people and those working with them. Growing up is particularly tough for the vulnerable and excluded people the NCH works with, including
- disabled children and young people
- those who have suffered abuse
- those in care or who have left the care system
- young offenders
- young carers
- those whose parents are splitting up.
NCH projects and partnerships support tens of thousands of young people throughout the UK during this crucial time in their lives, so that they have the opportunity to reach their potential.
