Sunday, 30th May, 6 pm St Paul’s (Episcopal) Cathedral Festive Eucharist for Pentecost: an invitation has been given by the congregation to join in their Pentecost celebrations. Christian Aid

Envelopes are available from the table at the top of the stairs for those who have not had one delivered to their home. Filled envelopes (these or ones that have not been collected at home) may be handed in via the collection plate. All monies will be sent to Christian Aid.

Scottish Bible Society

Our attention is particularly drawn this week to

  • Resumption of translation projects after war and economic crisis in the Ivory Coast;
  • Performance of ‘The Prodigal Son’ by New Scottish Singers and Ensemble in Aberdeen this week;
  • Cooperation between churches in Guinea, where unity and religious tolerance are growing as peace continues;
  • Completion of revision of the Good News New Testament in Portugal;
  • Official government recognition of the Bible Society in Gambia, where a new committee and chairman seek innovative ways to share God’s Word.
  • The President and Vice-President of Conference in the Liverpool District this weekend, and at the Wesley Day Celebrations, St Paul’s Cathedral, London, tomorrow;
  • Women’s Network Connexional Committee meeting, Saturday;
  • Cliff College Centenary Festival next weekend;
  • outreach and vision in our Circuit congregations;
  • HIV / AIDS counselling in Herbertpur Hospital, north India (Christian Aid);
  • paid staff and volunteer supporters in the UK and Ireland (Feed The Minds);
  • The Leprosy Mission’s work in Chad, and Niger;
  • Bible Society work in Colombia;
  • we pray with and for the peoples of Hungary, and Romania;
  • we remember fellow Methodists in the Gosport and Fareham Circuit (Southampton District), and all in the Livingston Ecumenical Parish (Edinburgh & Forth Circuit).

Wednesday 16th – Sunday 20th June, 10.15 am – 3.45 pm (Wed-Sat), 2 pm – 7 pm (Sun). Intervals – 1 hour break Wed-Sat; 1/2 hr break Sun Dundas Estate (South Queensferry) “The Life of Jesus Christ”, open-air performances presented by the Dundas Foundation, taking the form of an open-air promenade, with a walk between scenes.

Saturday 19th June Dundee Methodist Church Project 2004 : “Sponsored Jigsaw Event” for Slessor Foundation – details coming soon.
Friday 9th – Sunday 11th July Winter Gardens, Blackpool “Xposed”, a Christian Youth Festival - “an event to inspire, resource and challenge young people to explore and express their Christian faith”. Sarah Russell (Edinburgh) invites 13-25 year olds from Scotland to join in travelling together for “the best weekend you’ve had for ages”. Cost - £43 plus £6 for accommodation (travel to be arranged). Programme/ events include a Cyber Café, giant games, refreshments, circus entertainers, samba band, music, worship, show, workshops, exhibition……
