Dundee Methodist Church

21 November 2004

We give the assurance of our thoughts and prayers to all who are unwell, awaiting or undergoing treatment, or anxious or grieving for the loss of loved ones.

Preparing for Worship

As some people appreciate a period of calm preparation before the start of worship, we are all asked to observe a time of quietness from 10.55 am.

Ecumenical Worship

United Services have been arranged for the following Sunday evenings at 6.30 pm

  • Tonight - Congregational Church, (‘Lower’) Constitution Road
  • 12th December - United Reformed Church, Salem St (off Constitution Road, north of Marketgait inner ring road)
  • 23rd January - St Andrew’s (RC) Cathedral, including supper
  • 27th February - Meadowside St Paul’s
  • 27th March (Easter Sunday), Methodist Church
  • 24th April - United Reformed Church

Our support is warmly invited to any or all of these acts of worship.

Advent Worship

Next Sunday marks the start of Advent, during which worship will include the Lighting of Candles and a Litany for placing items by the Crib. The positioning of this may mean some re-adjustment to seating and other arrangements over the next few weeks.

For next Sunday, we are invited to reflect in advance on news items & headlines about “the pain of the world” & to bring (small) newspaper cuttings to be placed by the Crib.

* If anyone would find a large-print copy of wording and responses to be used during Advent useful, please contact Jenny & David, or a Church Steward.

Link Club News

  • This week the Club responded to a member’s request to support the Children in Need appeal: we had skittles & “guess the numbers” competitions. A ‘fun morning’ was enjoyed by us all – 155 skittles were knocked over. £25 has been forwarded to Children in Need - will we get a mention??!!
  • The Club & especially its Helpers are grateful for the response to our recent request for help in serving tea. We have been delighted to welcome Prechita and Phemie as “tea ladies” on Tuesdays and Wednesdays respectively. Please drop in and see us or chat to any of the Helpers’ Team* if you wish to know more about the Club

* Sue M (Chair), Lorna (Secretary), Sheila (Treasurer), Paddy, Jenny E, Jean, Norah & David, Cliff (driver).
